Inside Flexiciser

Fitness for the Mobility Challenged: Facilitating the Law of Movement Therapy

The Physical Movement Therapy Device (PMTD™) was developed in 1982 by Kenneth Richardson in Santa Fe Springs, California. This device was created as a way to help ease the pain for his father who suffered from Parkinson’s Disease. He noticed that people with Parkinson’s Disease exhibited movement constraints to include gait issues, coordination, and muscle fatigue. As an innovator, he created this PMTD™ technology so that it would facilitate “The Law of Movement,” providing the ability for people with movement challenges to be able to obtain that much needed movement therapy that their bodies require for good health and increased quality of life.

Mr. Richardson was introduced to Arthur M. Kassel in 2002. Mr. Kassel was amazed by the PMTD™ and the results that those with disabilities were seeing from its use. Now Chairman of Flexiciser, Inc., Mr. Kassel had a similar vision as Mr. Richardson. “My wife, Tichi Wilkerson-Kassel, was also affected by Parkinson’s Disease. The equipment we developed helped Tichi everyday by moving her arms and legs. It not only changed her life, but improved its quality as well. As the benefits of the PMTD™ continue to extend worldwide and help the mobility challenged, it will be Tichi Wilkerson-Kassel’s legacy,” says Arthur Kassel.

As a result, they formed a corporation called Flexiciser™ International. With its corporate office in Carlsbad, California, Flexiciser™ International is the nation’s leading manufacturer of PMTD™ Devices, a unique durable medical equipment technology designed to provide movement for mobility challenged and bariatric customers. In 2011, it opened a new branch office in Santa Monica, California.

Healthy active individuals do not often consider the impact that loss of movement has on one’s body – physically, emotionally and mentally. The body was designed to move to keep it healthy. When one loses the ability to control the body’s movement, independence is also lost. The PMTD™ helps reduce certain side effects of immobility such as poor circulation, spasticity, edema, muscular atrophy, stiff joints and potential infections from lack of movement.

PMTD™ Technology facilitates
“The Law of Movement Therapy”
in three modes:

(1) Active (Self)

(2) Passive (FlexiMotor)

(3) Resistive (Muscle Toning).

PMTD™ is the only technology that uses a: Natural elongated stride, ROM (full range of motion), Non-weight bearing on joints, moves arms and legs simultaneously, is VA approved (VA Contract), Patented, & Trademarked. The machines are professionally manufactured in California, and the company has received UL and FDA approval, VA/GSA contracts.

Over the 30 years of growth, PMTD™ has released new products to help those with mobility challenges. Its team travels across the country year round to promote the products and educate the public about the importance of movement therapy. Many things have changed, but what remains the same and always will is the great desire for the team to connect with people who benefit from the use of the PMTD™ every day.
