FAQ
Q: How long has the Flexiciser™ been in use?
A: Flexiciser™ was developed by Kenneth Richardson in 1982.

Q: How does the Flexiciser™ work?
A: A person can sit in a chair or a wheelchair to use the Flexiciser™. When utilizing a wheelchair, wheel up to the unit, strap your feet to the pedals with the Velcro straps, and turn it on. The control panel has a 60-minute timer, a speed control from 0-60 RPM and an on/off switch at your finger tips. Arms, legs and trunk are moved in three modes (passive, active, resistive) in a smooth, steady and coordinated walking motion.

Q: What is the difference between passive, active, and resistive mode?
A: Passive mode: The FlexiMotor moves the arms and legs for you.
Active mode: You can actively move the arms or legs, even both, yourself based on your abilities.
Resistive mode: You can resist the machine up to 60lbs (240lbs on our Flexiciser™ Resistive Max) and work on muscle strengthening.

Q: What good will the Flexiciser™ do if the machine is doing all of the work?
A: It will give you the benefits of movement therapy:

  • Provides muscle movement, which allows circulation feeding to the muscle cells and allowing for the muscles to be active.
  • Provides cardiovascular therapy when arms and legs are used together, even if you are a complete quadriplegic.
  • Reduces muscle atrophy.

Q: I have a lot of spasticty. What will this do to help?
A: Flexiciser™ will reduce spasticity through natural movement. Movement therapy allows the blood to circulate throughout the body in a natural walking stride and therefore, supplying the muscles with oxygen and nutrients.

Q: Who is using the Flexiciser™?
A: People who have lost the ability to control their body's movement are using the Flexiciser™. This includes those injured in an accident or suffering from a disease or birth defect, such as Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, and more.

Q: What are the dimensions of the Flexiciser™ and how much does it weigh?
A: The dimensions are 44x26x41 (LxWxH) and most of our home-use models weigh 65lbs.

Q: Do insurance companies help to pay for the Flexiciser™?
A: Some insurance companies will cover the Flexiciser™. Please check with your insurance company.
